Mission Statement
Carmen Ruiz de Almodóvar is a vascular biologist with expertise in cell – cell communication and signaling in the central nervous system vasculature. Her lab studies vessel growth, maturation and function in the brain and spinal cord using the mouse as a model system, and completing it with in vitro 3D systems. A particular focus is on understanding how vascular cells regulate neurons and glia specification and function during development, but also in diseases of the central nervous system.
