Kaska Koltowska graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Genetics from King’s College London, UK, in 2007. In 2011, she completed a PhD in Developmental Biology at the National Institute for Medical Research, UK, in the laboratory of Elke Ober. Kaska conducted her post-doctoral work in Ben Hogan’s laboratory at the Institute of Molecular Bioscience, Australia. In 2018, she moved to Uppsala University, Sweden, to establish her independent line of research.
Mission Statement
The main focus of Kaska Koltowska’s laboratory is to better understand how the molecular and cellular regulators work together to ensure proper lymphatic vessel formation. As this is a very dynamic process, she uses zebrafish as a model system to visualise it as it happens in real-time in vivo. Together with state-of-the-art genetic models and the newest single-cell transcriptomics, she aims to identify new players regulating lymphatic vessel development. Her work delved into chromatin organisation and regulation of gene expression by specific lymphatic endothelial enhancers.
