Mariona Graupera is the head of the Endothelial Pathobiology and Microenvironment group at Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC), Badalona. She completed doctoral studies at the University of Barcelona, Catalunya. Later, she worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research and at the Barts Cancer Institute, in London. She established her research group as a Junior PI at the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL). In February 2021, Dr. Graupera was recruited to IJC as a group leader.
Mission Statement
Mariona Graupera is a vascular biologist with expertise in signalling. The Graupera lab takes advantage of the PI3K pathway as a paradigm to understand how intracellular roads regulate vessel morphogenesis, and how this knowledge can be translated into therapeutic opportunities for diseases characterized by aberrant vessel growth. Specifically, we are interested in (i)understanding oncoproteins-related developmental human disorders, (ii) studying tumour-stroma interactions, and identifying vascular therapies to treat metabolic disorders.
