International Vascular Biology Meeting

The European Vascular Biology Organization (EVBO) invites proposals from motivated scientists representing qualified institutions, national societies, and/or destination partners to host the upcoming International Vascular Biology Meeting (IVBM) in Europe in 2030. IVBM has been held since 1980 biannually in Europe, North America, and Australasia. Following meetings in Amsterdam (2024), Adelaide (2026), and Chicago (2028), IVBM will return to Europe in 2030. This flagship event gathers between 800 and 1,000 researchers, educators, and industry professionals from across the globe to exchange groundbreaking discoveries and innovations in all fields of vascular research.

The IVBM 2030 meeting is expected to advance scientific excellence and collaboration in all fields of vascular research, promote international networking and the sharing of new technologies, be inclusive and support early-career researchers through dedicated programs, and foster global partnerships between academia, healthcare, society and industry.

Proposal requirements

Please address the following items and sections in your concise proposal that should not exceed 2 to 3 pages (plus, if necessary, appendices):

  • Proposed location and venue: Describe why this location and this particular venue are good choices for the IVBM meeting. Provide some relevant background information on the location
  • Key responsible people (Chairs) and structure of organizing committee: Outline why you are the perfect Chairs and the best suited team to organize IVBM 2030. One of the chairs should reside in (or be very familiar with) the proposed city location. Membership of EVBO, attendance and active participation in previous IVBM conferences are considered advantages. Please highlight prior involvement in the organization of (larger) meetings.
  • Preliminary budget estimate and funding strategies: Provide a tentative budget calculation and explain how you expect to arrive at a black zero (conference fee, sponsorship and donors, exhibitors, privileges to speakers, etc.).
  • Tentative date: Please outline your timelines and indicate if any conflicts with other major vascular biology (or related) meetings are expected.
  • Program and organization: Please outline your plans for shaping the scientific and social program? (process of selection of topics and speakers, etc.)

Timeline and submission instructions

Proposals (2-3 pages) should be submitted by the prospective Chair(s) to the EVBO general secretary (secretary@evbo.org) before March 1st, 2026. Proposals will be reviewed and evaluated, and the EVBO council will make a final decision. If additional information or clarification is required, the Council will reach out to the prospective Chair(s). Candidates will be notified of the outcome before August 15, 2026. The IVBM 2030 venue will be announced at the IVBM 2026 Adelaide meeting (Sept 2026).
