Transition and Clinical Fellowships at The Edinburgh BHF Centre of Research Excellence

The following transition and clinical fellowships are currently being advertised and funded by The Edinburgh BHF Centre of Research Excellence (REA3): 

  1. BHF Centre of Research Excellence Transition Fellowships – CLOSING DATE: 17 June 2019 5pm

The Edinburgh BHF Centre of Research Excellence (REA3) will fund up to seven transitional fellows, offering mentorship and development support. Fellows are expected to prepare applications for at least one competitive fellowship (e.g. Wellcome Trust Sir Henry Dale, BHF Intermediate Fellowship, MRC Career Development, Kidney Research UK Senior Fellowship) during their appointment.

Funding will include the applicant’s salary for up to 12 months (under exceptional circumstances we may offer an extension to this period) and £10,000 for research consumables. Transition fellows will be appointed on Grade 7 of the academic scale (£33,199-£39,609).

  1. BHF Centre of Research Excellence Clinical Research Fellowships – CLOSING DATE: 18 June 2019 5pm

These fellowships are intended to support outstanding pre-doctoral clinical candidates towards fully funded PhD programmes.

The Edinburgh BHF Centre of Research Excellence (REA3) will fund up to five clinical research fellows, offering mentorship and development support. Fellows are expected to prepare applications for at least one clinical research fellowship (e.g. MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship Pre Doctoral, BHF Clinical Research Training Fellowship) during their appointment.

Funding will include the applicant’s salary for up to 15 months and £10,000 for research consumables. Clinical research fellows will be appointed on Grade AMN2 of the clinical academic scale (£34,125 – £50,563). The post-holder will be offered an honorary clinical contract with Lothian Health in order to conduct clinical research and participate in clinical activities and training.

The Clinical Research Fellowship Programme will recruit a number of candidate fellows across REA3 themes. Fellows will undertake a research project relevant to REA3 research. More information can be found on the project website:
