A postdoctoral position is available for 18 months in the Team III: Signaling in vascular and pulmonary pathophysiology at the resarch unit UMR Inserm 1087/Cnrs 6291 of l’Institut du thorax, Nantes, FR
The team is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with expertise in vascular biology/pathophysiology to join an interdisciplinary project gathering neuroradiologists, geneticists and vascular biologists focused on intracranial aneurysm (IA).
Although the pathogenesis of IA has been the subject of many studies for the last decade, the mechanisms underlying IA formation, growth and rupture are still mostly unknown and relevant animal models of IA are not available. Familial history of IA predisposes to IA formation and rupture and increasing evidence suggest a genetic component of IA formation. We identified IA-causing variants by whole-exome sequencing in familial forms of the disease and set up functional analysis of the causal/susceptibility variants to understand the pathological mechanisms of IA formation (In vitro and in/ex vivo analyses using relevant cell/animal models and approaches [imaging, biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, histology, functional analysis in/ex vivo,…]).
A PhD or MD/PhD degree is required, preferably with expertise in vascular biology, cell signalling/signal transduction, and animal models (rodents). The ideal candidate will have a track record of scientific productivity, as evidenced by first-authored publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals. He/she is able to work independently as well as part of a team and to share expertise with others.
