There is a strong interest in chronic inflammation in Cardiff with preclinical and clinical studies of RA, Type1D, cancer immunity, virus immunity as well as bacterial and fungal infections.  Inflammation biology often involves organ based blood vessels so this is a quite a wide remit. Cardiff University was recently awarded centre status in the newly funded UK Dementia Research Institute (one of 5 centres in total) under the local director Professor Julie Williams. Major interests of the Institute include innate immunity as well as blood brain barrier function so we welcome applicants with an interest in CNS vasculature.

Depending on their research programme, the successful applicant could be based in the Division of Infection and Immunity/Systems Immunity Research Institute or the Dementia Research Institute.
