After his training in Biochemistry and Physiological Chemistry (T\u00fcbingen), he obtained his PhD from the I.M.P. Vienna and the University of T\u00fcbingen. He subsequently was a post-doctoral fellow at the Ontario Cancer Institute and Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute (Toronto, Canada). Returning from Canada he joined the MPI for Physiological and Clinical Research (Bad Nauheim, Germany) and subsequently moved to M\u00fcnster, were he headed the Mammalian Cell Signaling Group, at the MPI for Molecular Biomedicine from 2002 to 2017. Since August 2017, he is a director at the EIMI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Mission statement<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the EIMI our group continues to focus on morphogenetic processes that shape and maintain the vascular systems, especially during the tissue specific development and function of lymphatic vessels.
