The G.Costa lab (https://gcosta064.wixsite.com/costa-lab) in the Wellcome Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine (Queen’s University of Belfast) has an open funded position for a PhD student to work on fundamental aspects of vascular biology.
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to embark on a project that addresses basic questions in the fields of messenger RNA localisation and local translation in the context of angiogenesis (Costa et al., EMBO J 2020). The successful candidate will work with a wide range of cell culture techniques, advanced microscopy and molecular biology approaches designed to explore how and why particular mRNAs are translated into proteins at the front of migrating endothelial cells.
This position includes diverse training and career development opportunities.
The minimum academic requirement for admission to a research degree programme is normally an Upper Second Class Honours degree in a relevant topic from a UK or ROI HE provider, or an equivalent qualification acceptable to Queen’s University.
